“The Grand Amazon resort is new and it is very, very nice. It needs a little more furniture (comfortable chairs on the veranda, hooks to hang up some things and a bench or table to set things on) but I am sure these will all be coming soon.
The location is perfect! About a 90 minute boat ride which half was on the main Amazon River, followed by a beautiful cruise into the tributary to the lodge.
We did everything that we wanted to do including exploring, day and night (very cool!) jungle walks, fishing and a visit to our boat driver’s village where we met his family and especially his little baby granddaughter! The ladies set up a little market and we purchased a few treasures to share with our family.
The food wasn’t only the BEST that we experienced on our journey, but the presentation was SIX star!! And the taste.....mmmmm delicious! Steak, chicken, fresh fish and a special rainforest dinner that couldn’t have been better! The chef, Marcos, would fit right in at the finest restaurants in New York city!
Our guide, Aldo, was born in the Amazon and there was nothing that got by him. He found animals: snakes and spiders, bugs and bats, sloths and monkeys - he was simply awesome! And his English was perfect!
The lodge manager, Jorge, was wonderful - kind, caring, and always happy and smiling! Along with his entire staff!! There just wasn’t anything they would not do for us!
This place is only going to get better. I encourage you to go now while it is still affordable!”
