Where To Stay In Lima

Being Peru's political, economic and cultural capital, and with the main international airport, the city of Lima receives a large throughput of holiday and business travellers. It therefore has a wide and varied selection of properties to choose from.

Below are a few of our favourites, that are mainly to be found in the tourist-friendly, coastal districts of Miraflores and Barranco, which are also home to many of the country's best shops, bars and restaurants.

And while most overseas visitors do not see much beyond these urban hubs, the Department of Lima has a surprisingly varied and unexplored range of natural and archaeological attractions, from the mountainous Nor Yauyos - Cochas Natural Reserve in the East, to the ancient city-state of Caral in the coastal desert to the North.

The property was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted warmly and upgraded to a lovely room overlooking the square.
