Where To Stay In Ancash
Huaraz is the capital of the Department of Ancash, and also its tourism hotspot, being the gateway to the Callejon de Huaylas, a valley between two mountain ranges, the Cordillera Blanca and the Cordillera Negra, with access to the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Huascaran National Park.
There are lots of budget and mid-range accommodation options in Huaraz itself, and the towns further up the valley; as well as some lovely, remoter properties, located at higher altitudes, in beautiful mountain settings.
Opened in 1974, Andino Club is the premier hotel in Huaraz.
The hotel has 54 rooms, all with Internet, safe & cable TV.
20 of the rooms at Hotel Andino Club have views of the stunning Cordillera Blanca, which can be enjoyed from the terrace.
10 of Andino Club’s bedrooms have their own fireplace, which staff light in the evening.
All rooms have a private bathroom, with hot water.
The cow sculpture at the entrance of reception is a nod to the owners of Hotel Andino Club’s Swiss heritage.
The lobby is spacious & airy, and a good place for a coca tea before or after an excursion into Huascaran National Park.
For something stronger, the cosy Bar Andino is open in the evenings.
A buffet breakfast is served every day in the Chalet Suisse Restaurant.
As well as breakfast, which is included in the room price, an a la carte menu is available for lunch (during the high season) and dinner.
