Where To Stay In iquitos, Loreto
The vast province of Loreto, with its main city of Iquitos, is the place to enjoy the Amazon Rainforest at its rawest.
Many visitors arriving at Iquitos Airport go directly to an Amazon cruise ship … or one of the many rustic lodges that are located in the surrounding jungle. But for those who choose to spend a night or more in an urban setting, there is a range of accommodation in Iquitos, with easy access to the attractions of the city centre, such as the Plaza de Armas, Iron House and restaurant-lined Boulevard overlooking the Amazon River.
While there is little in the way of luxury accommodation, the hotels in Iquitos are generally modern and comfortable. And a handful inhabit buildings that date back to the Rubber Boom of the late 19th / early 20th century, such as in a restored rubber baron's townhouse.
One of the things to consider when picking a place to stay in Iquitos, is the proximity of the hotel to a busy road … as the noise of the ubiquitous mototaxis can be relentless! We’d be happy to give our advice.
