Overview
Lima is the political, economic - and culinary - capital of Peru, and so there is no better way to appreciate its attractions than through its food.
This four-day itinerary takes us to her beautiful Colonial centre, with its formal squares and residences, along with the more modern, tourist-friendly districts of Miraflores and San Isidro.
There is time to include the modern Magic Water Circuit, the world-renowned Larco Museum, along with a typical, local market, full of exotic produce.
And there are always opportunities to sample the first-class cuisine in a variety of locations: at a dinner show; in the grounds of a pre-Inca ruin; and overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Lima Gastronomy 4-Day Itinerary Outline:
Day 1: Transfer from Lima Airport to hotel; Afternoon: Water Fountain Circuit; Evening: Show & dinner.
Day 2: Morning: Tour of Colonial Lima & Larco Museum; Evening: Huaca Pucllana Restaurant.
Day 3: Morning: Gastronomy Tour & Lunch.
Day 4: Transfer to Lima Airport.

Itinerary
Lima Gastronomy 4-day Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Lima Arrival; Magic Water Circuit & Dinner Show (D)
One of 13 fountain installations at the Magic Water Circuit.
This morning, we welcome you at Lima Airport, and transfer you to your hotel.
In the afternoon, we begin our exploration of Lima with a visit to the Magic Water Circuit, a system of illuminated fountains built in the Parque de la Reserva, which has proved very popular since its opening in 2007.
We then have dinner at a restaurant whilst enjoying a performance of traditional dances from around Peru.
After the show, we are transferred back to our hotel.

Day 2: Lima: City Tour & Dinner (B,D)
After breakfast, we set off to explore Lima’s historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is packed with impressive Colonial architecture.

The centrepiece is the Plaza de Armas which is dominated by a number of monumental buildings:
a Gothic-Renaissance-style Cathedral inspired by Spanish religious architecture.
The Presidential Palace which was first built in the 16th Century, but largely remodelled in the 1920s.
Casa de Aliaga: the oldest mansion in the city, still owned by a descendant of the first proprietor, the Conquistador, Jeronimo de Aliaga.
We then continue to the district of Pueblo Libre, where Larco Museum is located.
It is a beautifully-restored Colonial mansion, built on a 7th-Century pre-Columbian pyramid, host to an enormous collection of pre-Hispanic jewellery and pottery. It provides an extensive overview of 5,000 years pre-Columbian history.

The museum also has an excellent on-site restaurant, set in the peaceful grounds, which makes an excellent choice for lunch (not included) after the tour is over.
In the evening, you are transferred from the hotel to Huaca Pucllana Restaurant, for dinner.
The restaurant is set within the complex of an adobe pyramid (Huaca Pucllana) built more than 1,500 years ago, giving it a unique atmosphere.
The menu offers beautifully-prepared classic Peruvian creole cuisine.
After dinner, return to your hotel.

Day 3: Lima: Gastronomic Tour (B,L)
Fresh fruit & vegetables at San Isidro Market.
After breakfast, we drive to San Isidro Market, a modern, organised market which specialises in fresh fruit.
Here we have have the opportunity to taste some of Peru’s huge fruit variety, such as chirimoya (custard apple), lucuma or pitaya (dragonfruit), and watch the locals going about their shopping.
We then go to a restaurant located on Lima’s Pacific seafront where we learn how to prepare Peru’s flagship drink - the Pisco sour - and dish - ceviche.
We get to sample the results of our handiwork, along with other professionally-prepared dishes!
After lunch, we transfer you back to your hotel.
The rest of the day is free for personal exploration. A siesta is recommended after the lunchtime indulgence!

Day 4: Lima: Tour Ends (B)
Our tour ends after breakfast.
