Visit Kuelap & Gocta Falls
Kuelap & Gocta Falls best-known highlights in Chachapoyas region.
Number of ways to enjoy these … and other natural & archaeological wonders.
Tour lengths from four days up to a week.
The Chachapoyas region is surely the best-kept secret of Peru, offering the perfect balance between archaeology, nature and living culture.
Cloud forests embrace the fortified city of Kuelap; astonishing waterfalls, such as Gocta and Yumbilla, flow over endless cliffs; and unique pre-Inca vestiges, such as at Revash or the Karajía sarcophagi, are recent discoveries.
With the commencement of flights between Lima and Jaen - a four hour drive from the city of Chachapoyas - there are now various ways to experience the best of Amazonas, even in a relatively short timeframe.
The shortest tour is four days, but in a region with so much to explore, you may well wish to extend this by a day or two.
You can use the additional time to visit more of Chachapoyas’ natural and historical attractions. Or you can go further afield to enjoy time in the high Amazon of Tarapoto; or make the spectacular journey through the Marañon Valley to the Andean city of Cajamarca.
However long you choose to spend in an area only just embracing tourism, you will still feel like a pioneer!
